After a four-year internship, Matt Castilleja's mentor retired in 2016 and gifted him all of his machinery and materials as back pay. This event spurred Matt to shift the studio's focus towards contemporary sculptural and elemental furniture, while still honoring traditional techniques through experimentation. Today, Castilleja's studio has expanded into a team of skilled artisans, allowing their work to be represented nationwide through private clientele and exclusive showrooms.
